PATERSON, Norman Robert  BA, BEd, BJ, MA, MEd
Passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, in his 73rd year, after a brief debilitating illness. Son of the late Rea (nee Campbell) and Robert Paterson of Etobicoke. Survived by cousins both near and far. A long time Secondary School teacher and counsellor in Scarborough (Woburn Collegiate) and Peel District (Glenforest S.S. & Turner-Fenton S.S.). Witty, erudite, and sardonic, he enjoyed a close circle of friends and maintained a wide range of electronic communications with distant ones. He will be sadly missed by all and lovingly remembered by his Friday night 'Group of Seven'. Cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter 'Peel' Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., (Hwy 10 N. of QEW), 905-279-7663 for a Remembrance Gathering on Friday November 10, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice. I remember Normie being a very, very clever man with a kind heart.  A great help to other staff and he will have lots of loved ones and former colleagues who will miss him and appreciate memories of him.

I have great memories working with Norm Paterson at Glenforest from 1987 to 2005. Norm was a good teacher and guidance counselor.  He always had the best interests of the students at heart.  Norm had a very good sense of humour and was well respected by his colleagues.  He will be deeply missed by family, friends and colleagues.

Norm--a treasured colleague and friend for these many years. A port in a storm for all who knew him. A truly genuine person with great dedication to his students and fellow staff members. Norm was always there to answer our many questions about the huge number of things about which he was informed--his knowledge was vast and he was so humble about it. His passing leaves a very large gap in the lives of those who were blessed to have had him in ours. There are few words--simply, RIP Norm.
