Rob was one of the good guys. I met him through another friend, but we connected right away. We both had the love of tinkering at a work bench or under the hood of a car. He loved that Mazda RX7 and I wouldn't be surprised it still exists today! I went through most of school with his sister Cathy.
Towards the end we knew we were losing him. Everything he tried just gave him hope. He had a beautiful new house...a new wife, but the dreaded cancer caught up with him again.
A few nights before he died my phone rings...it's Rob. He's calling me to tell me how thankfull he was for me being his friend and that he was saying goodbye to me. I was sitting on the floor in my basement unable to stand up, using all the energy I had just to keep strong on the phone for him. Rob was one of the good guys!
